Just purchased a millermatic 135 Not feeding wire at all, gas solenoid is working took the cover off the red light on the board lights when trigger is depressed. What voltage should be across the 2 wire motors and whats the cost of a new motor assembly.
Reply:Little wirefeed welders often have thermostats in series with the gun switch. If something gets hot, they go open circuit and the wire won't feed. In a perfect world, as soon as they cool down again the thermostat closes and the welder should work again. Check for those little thermostats, see if there is voltage appearing across its terminals when you pull the trigger (shouldn't be). If there is, you need a new thermostat.

Reply:Q5 on the PCB is more than likely the culprit. the original "2N6388" is of the 80v variety, and NTE has a "263" that is of the 100v variety. try replacing the transistor first, I believe that the MFG used the cheaper 80v instead of what the system was designed to have IE 100V, I just had the second "2N6388" go out so I am upgrading this time. |
