So I found this welder locally for a awesome price but I have no idea how this thing even works. I think I'm missing a cable or something. From what I know is that it does work(got it from a shop)The case is a little beat up but the inner components look pretty good and what not.I'm just kind of lost how you power this unit?I feel I'm missing a cable or something because the only thing in the back of the unit is a ground cable.Ive attached some pictures of the unit so you can all look at it.
Reply:The cable on the back Is how you power it you hook it up to a cv power source and start welding, so you will need another welder to power itLast edited by Firemanmike69; 01-18-2014 at 03:28 PM.
Reply:I think it's a wire feeder that runs off the open circuit voltage. Look up the manual for it on the Lincoln site. Hooks up to a CV power supply or possibly a CC depending on the model.---Meltedmetal.

Reply:Ah well that sucks. I thought I could just use this like it was ha.Are these things really worth anything or popular for people to buy?
Reply:Worth good money and popular.....before you read that you better just sell it to me cheap instead Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Yes, they are often sought after by guys that need wire feed process off engine driven welders (typical application) and occasionally for shop applications powered by stationary CC and/or CV power supplies. However, this begs the question - what did you pay for it?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:This is a wire feed unit not the actual welding machine. It needs a power source. It was a very good unit. Top of the line.Does it have 2 rollers or 4 rollers?AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:I think it has 2 rollers. Im assuming you mean the rollers that feed the wire?I may just go take a picture of the interior so you can see.Well I hate to say exactly what I paid for it because I got it pretty cheap ha.But I think Ill just sell it because I dont want to have to buy another unit to power it when Im really just wanting to buy a TIG welder.
Reply:NO! They're not worth a $hit! Being as I'm in a good mood and don't want to see you taken advantage of, I'll give you $50.00 for it, do you have a Pay Pal account?Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:I've seen them offered for less than $400 on CL on rare occasion, but $450-800 is typical. Some guys really like those LN 25's.I don't think that one has the contactor in it though, so the gun is hot all the time. I might be wrong as it's been a while since I actually saw the inside of an LN 25 and I'm going off memory ..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Well ive got a whole bunch of car batteries, maybe I can just wire them to it =P
Reply:Having your LN-25 just gives you an excuse to buy a big cv/cc power source No wimpy 130 amp mig welders for you...though they are convenient....and practical...Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Do you have access to a CC/CV welder generator or CC/CV shop welder? Sorry didn't look at one of those pictures carefully you could run that off of a CC only machine but use only a DC powered machine.Last edited by flux core joe; 01-18-2014 at 07:04 PM.Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
Reply:Yea there is no way I could afford one o those power sources when I cant even afford a TIG ha.IS there anyway to just like test it without one of those power sources to make sure that when the trigger is pushed that the motor turns the wire?I'm trying to contact a friend to see if he has one but Might have to wait till next weekend. You should be able to test the motor by hooking up 2 batteries to get 24 volts. Reply:I updated my profile but I am in KCMO.
Reply:That is the second occasion I have heard of where someone bought an LN-25 thinking that they could weld with it only to find out it is only a wire feeder. |
