Folding aluminum tailgate.

First, I really have no idea why. I think the guy sometimes hauls something that didnt clear the gate when it is up. Second, I asked will anything real heavy be loaded with it. The answer I got was a riding lawnmower  Sure, that is why it was twisted when I started right?Anyway the pics.Drilling the side brackets, 1/4"x2", 13/16 hole.  Didnt get any of making the center parts, forgot my phone AND camera that day.Side brackets mounted, and hole capped.Center bushing(?) welded in place. Again 13/16 hole and one side flattened on the mill. Crappy weld pic, I DID go back and fix that crater at the start.And done. I used 3/4" bolts for the hinge pins. With the 13/16 hole it is not so loose it rattles and not so tight that it is hard to fold and leaves enough room for grease.Now to just wait for the "I told you so" and it comes back mangled when someone tries to load a bobcat or something on it. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. I was a bit concerned with not having the rest of the trailer if it would clear the deck when folded but I guess it does.If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience.
