What breaker should I have for my Lincoln ac225

I have been having some issues with my welder not penetrating enough on 1/4" steel. So I started looking at changing leads and going through making sure I have good contact. I also did a lot of grinding on the steel but still same results. I'm using a Hobart probe 6013 and tryed 6011 and the 6011 I can't keep arc but the 6013 is having trouble staying arc. So I checked the breaker and I saw I had a 20amp 120/240 breaker is this enough?

Reply:20 amps on an AC 225 is too low unless you are running at the very bottom of the amp range. a 30 amp breaker will do 3/32" rods, but you will trip with most 1/8" rods when you crank the amps up high enough for that size rod. as said a 50 amp is enough to run anything you need with that machine and is the recommended size.Post up what amp setting and rod size you are trying to run. My guess is your amps are too low and your rod size is too large because you aren't tripping your small breaker..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Information, if the breaker is not blowing then the machine is working.  If the machine is working then at the 120 amps he needs for 1/8 on quarter should not be a problem.  If your fan is running then the machine is not overloaded,  check your ground and stinger leads, make sure all have good contact witn the power cables.  Make sure you are grounded and try welding as close to the ground as possible. Also make sure your input is hot at both terminals at the mach., 110 between black and green, 110 between white and green.

Reply:From the looks of the cob web and what appears like a melted  tab at the screw the wire coating fatigued and shorted out like the man just said.
