Mesh cooking rack

I've got the itch to make me a grill that you put over top of a camp fire, I've got all of the material to do it from left over projects from past years. Looking on the internet a lot of them seem to be painted. Would high temp paint be suitable for this like what you get at the auto parts store or should I get paint that is made for grills and the such. Reply:Contact with food? NO PAINT WHATSOEVER!Any coating will fail from the heating/cooling cycles. You don't want to eat that.Season the steel by applying a liberal coat of VEGETABLE oil and heating it. Do this several times. You will have this tool for the rest of your life. Reply:OP is correct. Cabela's has some that are painted for camp stoves and they need to have the paint burnt off before you use it. They do this so it wont rust while it is being shipped. I have one and I just burnt the paint off as it said in the instructions. Then I re-season it with pam after Im done using it. But YOU CANNOT eat off until paint is burnt off. NOT good.
