It's been a while since I ventured north from the 'Off Topic' zone and posted one of my DIY projects. This is the just finished built-in joinery in my loungeroom at home. We'll one side of it - the other side is all timber, so I won't post pics. At least this side has some steel. It's a 5m x 5m room.Down one side it's a 6 drawer unit - spray finished in poly (I got someone else to the spray job). Then there is a gas fireplace on a slate hearth. Then a cabinet that hides the TV.Butting up to it is a 5m long, two shelf bookcase. That long black edge to the long white benchtop is 100 x 6mm steel. It turns down to the floor at the end near the chair. The splayed fireplace surround is also 6mm plate and is attached to the black edge.I didn't want vertical timber bits in the bookshelf, so at 700mm intervals you can see 6mm plate rebated into the top and bottom of the shelves. From a distance, they are not visible - it's just the books that are visible. And I made a steel frame that I attached the TV bracket to so the TV comes about 500mm out of the cabinet. You'll have to take my word for the fact that all the welds - especially on that fireplace surround - are fantastic. Attached ImagesYeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.
Reply:You're place is too fancy/neat. Most of us have car parts in the living room that we promise our wives we'll lay away as soon as we finish "blah-dee-blah".
Reply:That room is only neat in the summer because it doesn't get used much. In the winter it doesn't look like that. No car parts, though - most of the mess is usually books and bits of paper and the kids' musical instruments.Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.
Reply:Yep, that's the missus and the youngest daughter. They have both changed a bit now.My wife painted that about 9 years ago using a photo as a reference. She did another painting at the same time of her and the two girls together. It's hard to find a wall big enough for both paintings to hang together - they're each about 2 metres wide.Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen. |
