Was digging through some old welding books for ref. today and ran across this picture. The copyrite of the book was 1967.Been around and welding since I was a little one but that was the year I was born heehe I seen the topic on cordless remotes the other day on here so thought this may fit? I have never seen one and never heard anyone talking about it. Maybe never took off or wasnt popular? Maybe some older welders can add input? Reply:i remember the welding salesman that called on the shop back them was showing them. if i remember correctly it was in the 1973-1975 time frame and worked with factory modified gold-star 300 and 400 model dc transformer welders that we used on large structural jobs. nice flashback to the past. they did work but were delicate for the animal ironworkers of the age.
Reply:Thanks for sharing dbl612. Thanx for the info! Would of been cool to see one work.Miller 250DX HTP 221 DV AC/DCHenrob O-A Miller 180 MigMiller 150 Inverter   Hobart 10,000 Welder-Generator   Have a good day!!!
Reply:powerI have never used, nor seen this device; and this is the first literature I have ever viewed; but I believe I know its application. In 1978-80 I managed a weld test facility for the constructionof 'Chiller' that was six stories tall, and covered six city blocks in Saudi Arabia.   Lots of pipe  -  every size and variety. The instrumentation welder, a Quebecois transplant to Maine, was recruited from General Dynamics - Electric Boat.He had 28 Nuc-Sub weld certifications, and;  From his ship building experience, he told me about a device for reseting current 'up and down' from your stinger.  In the day, with structural steel, and ship building, its wasgeneral practice to be welding several stories from the power source.  In both contexts, the immediate weld area may contain all thestandard axial weld positions, and each like their own setting. This device was designed to keep the welder welding, and not be delayed in the effort to simply change the heat setting.Re-set could be done in seconds from the work station, withouta multi-story trip passing the water cooler.OpusLast edited by OPUS FERRO; 02-15-2013 at 10:15 PM.Reason: punc.
Reply:weird, wonder if it used some sort of carrier wave through the power supply.
