I work for the pipeline industry and for years we have used Osborn brushes, but recently we were just given samples to test with from a company called Weiler. So far I have to say I'm impressed with there stuff. Does anyone know much about them??
Reply:I have used quite a few wire brushes and IMO Weiler makes a very good product.I currently have a Weiler brush on one end of my 6'' bench grinder,I'm not sure exactly how long it's been on there...maybe 2 years, and still has lots of life left. The 2 3/4'' ones I use on my 4 1/2'' grinder aren't usually available in Weiler at my welding supply store any more,so I end up with ones made by Anderson...don't like them as well. Just my .02
Reply:I use the Wieler, exclusivly......... Very good brushes!Radnor brand is , I believe, made by Weiler, but lessor quality, so as not to compete with there "Weiler brand", So I was told by the Airgas guy.We need to protect Freedom of Speech, otherwise, how would we know who the A-holes (like me) are.
Reply:I just bought a wieler knotted cup brush for my 4 1/2" grinder. Used it to clean rust off some 1 1/2" sq tube and didn't have it start immediately start shedding wires like some others I have had.           MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Thanks for the input everyone. I did some research over the weekend and found several manufactures, Osbor, Weiler, Anderson, Milwaukee and Jaz. I know everyone said Weiler, but why? Some of these other companies seem lower in price.. CJ

Reply:Yup, you sure do. I got one from the orange store one day...figured I was there so.... It sure didn't last very long. Weilers are very good, IMO.
Reply:Has anyone used the Osborn brushes before? Just curious why you don't like them
Reply:I can only get the Vortex brushes at my hardware store.  The knotted ones are ok, but the straight cup brushes are not.  Despite having a 13,000 rpm rating they are not safe at the 11k my grinder runs at.  After about 10-15 minutes of service, there will no longer be any wires on the wheel.  Instead, they are all in my forehead.  They aren't cheap at $17 a pop, either.
