I am a home "Jack of all trades but master of none" with a Plasma Cutter that is getting too much water in my air lines.I've added a small water filter at the rear of the Cutter and have a small filter at the Compressor. What is the best filter to use for my application / cost to separate the water/ air ?Where is the best location to separate the water ?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,NnF
Reply:The best and most expensive way to remove water is to put a refrigeration unit between the compressor and the tank. That being said, here are some things you can do that are less expensive and effective:1) Run a few lengths of  black pipe vertically up and down right after the outlet from the tank. At the bottom of each vertical transition, put a drain valve. The air will cool and water will condense. 2) Run your regulator and water trap at the point where you tap the feed line.3) Use a coalescing filter at the plasma cutter input such as a Motorguard filter. Here's a link to a diagram with some suggestions on compressor plumbing. In the drawing, it doesn't show the repetative up/down piping at the compressor outlet but you should get the picture - http://www.tptools.com/statictext/ai...ng-diagram.pdf
Reply:everything rc said is right. now here is what i have. a reasonable dessicant dryer at the compressor. autobodytools.com. and a paint gun filter that goes between the regulator and the gun on a paintgun. that website has them in a 2 pack or go to your local auto paint seller. the orange ones are 10 bucks for a 2 pack. this will cure it easy and cheap.
