Gold Lens

I just heard about the gold reflective lens.The guy said they were graet.I need to ask if something like This would work on "tekz auto darkening welding helmet"?I would put this question to the Pro's as i always ask my more learned welders?
Reply:i think what your referring too is the American Optical Weld Cool Filter plate that has gold in it. they are fixed shade and they are really expensive because of the gold in them if you find the true AO weld cool lenses they tend to run a few hundred bucks. so no they won't work with any auto lens... if thats what your referring to
Reply:I don't think the gold lenses by A.O had gold in them, it was cobalt if memory serves me correct.  They do make gold lenses still. There is the Plastic version that when looking through has an amber color, and the glass ones, that gives off a true colorish view when looking through.  I haven't seen a gold lense AD helmet. Optrel makes an AD helmet that has the true color view when welding with it, but the lens isn't gold.
Reply:I have a lense that I have been using for the past few years. It was given to my about 30 years ago by my grandfather. I never used it till one day I stumbled across it. It is gold on when your welding the puddle is blue and no flame is visible. Has anyone else ever seen one like this. I was told they don't make them anymore.
