Hey all, I've been a long-time reader/lurker to WW, and finally decided to put my new Harbor Freight 170 MIG welder to work. I've seen some great designs for welding carts in this forum, and built mine from a combination of several different ones. Here's some pics of the cart I built over the weekend. I decided I wanted to stow my chop saw under the welder for best use of space.I started with a 14"x28" bottom frame and went from there, basically eyeballing it as I went.Next up is a 28"x48" welding table out of 1.5" .125 wall square tubing and a 1/4" plate top so I can stop working off MDF/saw horses or the garage floor! I picked up the material this weekend and already have the frame tacked together. I decided I wanted to add 3" casters to it, so I have to chop 4" off the legs and add plates to bolt them to.There's something very fulfilling, almost soothing about welding. I don't know what it is, but I always look forward to some free time to practice beads on some scrap, or put something together. Maybe down the road, I'll be able to justify a Miller 211 or Lincoln, but the 170 doesn't seem to break a sweat with single passes on 3/16" or even 1/4" with the .035 wire and the voltage cranked up.
