Cold saw or Band saw

I know that this has been touched on prior, but here goes mine. I want to get away from using my chop saw, way too much dust every, and am looking at either a cold saw or band saw. I would like to stay under $1000 for it. I am looking for not only which would be better, but what kind (brand/model) of each and price on them. Thanx guys.
Reply:I used to think that a bandsaw was the way to go, hands down.  However, after building a 150 foot pipe rail job, I can now make a case for a cold saw.  The band saw is great for gang cutting.  It is a waste of time for making individual cut.  Hence, a chop saw of some sort would be more advantageous. What will you be cutting?  What cutting capacity?  Hobbiest, business?

Reply:Just hobby stuff. Nothing thicker than 1/8 for the most part. Angle, square tubing, round. OD no bigger than 2". What kind of cold saw do you guys use?
Reply:Hello Caz,I had been using a Chop saw for all my cutting (what a mess), then my pop calls me and tells me he's got a used DeWalt band saw (hand held model) for 100.00. I drive over to his work and look it over and tried it on some scrap metal he had there, man I must have died and gone to heaven, the cut was clean, quiet, fast, and effortless, the only thing I need to do is practice on holding the saw at the right angle to achieve square cuts. I know you mentioned about a full size band saw, but I just wanted to give you an idea on how a band saw cuts.Regards,Fred
Reply:bandsaw hands DOWNi've used all 3 you mentionbandsaw will do what the others will do plus somelook on e-bayif you want a REAL bandsaw try to find a Doall they usually have the welder attached..kik *** machines.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
