Well, I started welding "101" a few weeks ago. I missed Oxy/Accetylene cutting. Wife learned it, so I guess when I get my old torch and regulators re-built, I'll get her to teach me. We started with SMAW, 6010 and then 7018. I love 7018. We basically just welded pieces of 1/4" plate together using different techniques. Enjoyed it immensely. Had a few problems with the stick sticking when attempting to strike the arc. We later moved in to GMAW. I love MIG. So far we've done the 1/4" plate thing, plus welded some 1/8" and dis-similar thicknesses. I think tonight we're going to get into GTAW. Sorta want to see what that's all about. Heard so much about TIG. I'll let ya know."Never mistake education for intelligence."AIRCO Oxy/AccMiller Thunderbolt
Reply:Good for you. Oxy/Acet will teach you how to handle the torch and rods just like tig.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:Did TIG last night. Beautiful welds, but it is a little more difficult than the other modes. I think I like MIG the best, I just hate all the spatter."Never mistake education for intelligence."AIRCO Oxy/AccMiller Thunderbolt
