Just picked up this plasma machine, but the torch housing is broke. Does anybody know of a replacement brand that will work? Miller discontinued this model. Everything looks good except the torch. If it's HOT, Don't touch it
Reply:Have you first contacted your local Miller dealer?  They can look up the part number and order the part.  Barring that, call 1-800-4-A-MILLER, and the facotory can give you the part number and tell you where to get it.You may want to delete your double post in this same forum, please.
Reply:Hey here is a link to what I think is a start http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o205f_mil.pdfIts a pdf file of the actual maunal to your machine. hope this helps they usually have the parts list at the end of the manual. I downloaded these for both of my used Miller welder and my miller plasma cutter. Will   Supports Autism Awareness                            My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .
Reply:These guys sell retrofit torches for it-http://www.weldmart.com/REPLACE%20%2...0ALPHA%201.htm
Reply:I hope you got that sucker cheap- it is one wierdo machine- this is why I dont run my old Miller Spectrum 500 anymore- because Miller makes more oddball plasma cutters- for plasma, I stick to TD or Hypertherm.Anyway- this thing has a liquid cooled torch. That means a coolant tank in the power supply, two hoses to the torch, and lots of complicated stuff that can break- and it did.Miller wanted $1500 for a new torch. If they still have any.So go to the weldmart site, and they will sell you a kit to use an aircooled torch, for only about $500.Probably it will downgrade your maximum cutting thickness and amperage- if you really need the max this thing will cut, which is only 5/8" to 3/4", you should sell it, and buy a hypertherm or a thermal dynamics- that watercooled torch is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of strange design decisions.
Reply:Thanks for the info. It sounds like to me that I've got a "piece" on my hands now. But for $300.00, I should have figured that. I knew if I come here I would find out what I needed to know. So, Thanks again ya'll.And sorry about the double post, accidently hit it twice I think. If it's HOT, Don't touch it
Reply:just a thought but my book said replacment torch is APT-8000 so they still have a plan for replacing it. just no idea as the $$ with only $300 invested seems like you have some room to spend a little on a torch and still have a good deal.keep us posted on the outcome summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Is it a contact start or high frequency start? Trafimet (Italian) makes some decent torches for a very good price. The issue you may have is that WC plasmaunits don't typically have long post flow times to cool the torch. Air cooled torches may overheat on machines designed for water cooled torches. Keep us posted.Last edited by Gus_Mahn; 10-08-2006 at 09:26 AM.
