Ok I keep seeing this process when I search Pinterest for some welding project ideas. Someone has figured out how to flatten and polish old car hoods into beautiful table tops. Anyone know the process or where to go to read up on how to do this? I really want to know how to do this! Here are some examples of what i am talking about:http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/recy...d-tables-78741
Reply:I did a little research and found these pics. Now the question is where can I go to have someone flatten out sheet metal for me?http://www.weldhouse.com/sheetmetal_...0730/micro.jpghttp://www.weldhouse.com/sheetmetal_...0738/micro.jpg
Reply:Find a hood. Find a sheet metal shop with a big azz slip roll. Cut off the edges and any supports on the hood until you have just the sheet. Beat any body lines out of the hood.Run it through the rollers a few hundred times till its flat. Trim and brake the edges to the desired size. Fasten it the the table frame. Apply several layers of clearcoat. Wet sand. Buff. Polish.Last edited by fortyonethirty; 08-15-2014 at 06:39 PM.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
