This my first time posting ,i have a lincoln power mig 200 , so wanting to do some aluminum welding i ordered lincolns conversion kit for aluminum , new teflon lined cable ensert new rollers for aluminum wire and i spent money on a spool of aluminum wire plus got some argon gas now i have it all ready to use and i cant get any gas flow , the machine isnt really that old and hasnt been abused , i have the magnum stinger or cable which ever you wanna call it , when i pull the trigger wire will come through but no gas , anyone have any ideas whats wrong ? thanks for looking . Reply:Hello and welcome.Is the gun plugged in all the way? I see this a lot at the tech school. Guys unplug the gun to work on the feeder, then don't plug the gun all the way back into the machine when they put it back together. With the gun not pushed back far enough, the gas ports on the gun don't line up with where the gas comes out of the machine, either giving low or no gas flow at the end of the gun..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:DSW thanks for the reply , i pulled the gun out of the machine and i can hear a small psssst indicating to me that gas is there but not in the gun or cable ill try to attach it again pushing in as far as i can , get back in a few and thanks again. Russ
Reply:I tried it again , took the gun cable off and pushed it in as far as possible , everything lined up the right way, i ran wire through it again but still no gas, getting fustrated here i have no idea what s going on with this thing it s all together properly im sure about that but something is amiss or somethings wrong somewhere.
Reply:I assume this worked prior to all your recent changes. Sounds like you have gas coming to the gun connector, so the issue has to be either in the gun itself, or where it hooks to the machine. Post up some clear picts of where the gun plugs int the machine and any other connections you may have changed, and perhaps someone can easily spot your issue.I'm betting this is just a simple misalignment somewhere and no big deal once we track down what isn't right..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:i changed liners twice checked everything i even called lincoln and did everything they told me still no gas, blew the cable out with air cussed alot , wire will go through but still no gas, im totally lost here i dont get it. Everything worked good untill i changed the liner , i even put a new liner twice that they sent me.Last edited by russ; 10-30-2012 at 02:16 PM.
