Today was the next to last day of welding class and we were supposed to make a small project. So I browsed the Projects sub-forum and saw some really nice roses. I had a bit of leftover aluminum sheet so thought that would be good for a first try. Cut out the petals with a plasma cutter. After I formed it, I went aound the edges with the tig to smooth them up a bit, then tried full cleaning and kind of painted the outside petals to give it a frosted look. I just used some 1/8" aluminum tig rod for the stem so I wasn't really able to add any leaves. It's just kind of ok, but my wife liked it. The daughter wants one now so I guess I'll get to make another one. Attached Images

Reply:Wow! Beautiful!!!I made my wife a metal flower bouquet once. She loved it. I think as a gag gift, I'll make her what Morticia from the "Adams Family TV show used to make. That being roses with the flowers all cut off the stems! She would just display the thorny rose stems in a vase. I'll make some realistic stems with thorns on them and put them in a vase for my woman! It would be very eclectic metal art!!!! Reply:Thanks for the kind words. I think that unlike my welds, it looks better in the picture than in person. |
