Looking to weld 5000 series aluminum with either a millermatic 140 or 175 I have access to how would 4043 .30 wire do with the spool gun?
Reply:Did you make a typo? Did you really mean .90 or more than 7/8" thick. If so then the answer is "No", at least not unless all you want to do is just stick it together with no strength. The MM 140 will do maybe 1/16", the MM175 maybe 1/8" alum maxed out..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Ha should be .090 sheet
Reply:It's doable, but not the easiest thing in the world. The MM175 would be the one to use of the two for that thickness. Your range to dial things in will be tight as you will be working near the max on both heat and wire speed. Spool gun is the way to go..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Yeah, have a fun time finding .30 size wire.
