I did a search for clamp rack ideas and only came up with 1 rack.I REALLY need an organized place to put my clamps. Please show me how you store your clamps.
Reply:Can't say I have much for storage for mine.  I have about 8 total c clamps and corner clamps so they stay in the toolbox for now. However depending on how/where you want them.  A couple pieces of pipe or rod on the side of a cart, or mounted on the wall may do just fine for you.Something like this just smaller.
Reply:I have a few shelves with open edges so I just lightly clamp them to the shelf along the ends. Also, in my wood shop I have a few studs exposed near my workbench so it works well to clamp them to the studs.
Reply:We made some horseshoe hangers and hung them on the wall, which takes care of mostly the bigger ones. The others are either on one tool cart or strung all over hell. I think the only way to have better organization in our shop is for my dad to retire Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over
Reply:A few years back I built a grinder storage bench with expanded metal shelves below the top for clamps. Running out of room on it now, but across the top I welded a 2" X 2" frame to hang my grinders and Portaband on hooks for easy retrieval. While that idea worked great it turned out to be a good place to store my smaller ViseGrip welding clamps. Might be upwards of 25 on there now. I'll get a picture of it the next time I'm down at the shop. bottom shelf is for C-clamps and the middle shelf has a mixture of Wilton F-clamps and larger/longer ViseGrip clamps. Some day soon I need to weld on a side cage to hold either the F-clamps or the larger ViseGrips as the mess is becoming a mess.Otherwise, I did build a purpose built clamp rack, but it was for my woodworking clamps. Made of wood instead of metal, but I'll see if I can't get you a picture later.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.

Reply:Same way I do it, very handy.
Reply:OK, THANKS for the ideas I think I'll take a piece of pipe and weld brackets to it so I can fasten it to the wall.I'll post a couple photos on Tue or Wed.
Reply:I keep some of my clamps on my welder cart.I took a piece of pipe and cut the bottom out of it and just slide the clamps in.Here's some pictures. Reply:Wow welderbill, did you wash and wax those clamps for the picture?
Reply:Bill one comment on those mag corner clamps. Exposed like that they truly are a "magnet" for grinding dust and metal filings. I find them a real PITA to clean so they don't F up the angle. Put a ziplock baggie around them. Then they can collect all the dust and crap they want, and when you strip off the bag they dump all that crud and you can use them right away without having to stop and chase the darn filings around on the surface with a rag..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Here's what I did for my 3/4'' pipe clamps. Salvaged a piece of 4'' pipe and flange from job and tacked plate to bottom for inside bar clamp storage. I like recycled FREE stuff. I used 1'' pipe couplings on top and 3/4'' rod in flange holes Attached Images
Reply:A lot of good ideas here. It largely depends on your "space". This works for me on the smaller ones to have them overhead and out of the way. The larger, heavier ones I park on the back of my rolling metal rack. Attached Images

Reply:[QUOTE=WelderBill;2380851]DSW, Thanks for the tip! ''Yeah, It is a PITA to clean the metal filings off the magnets. . I have to take a wire brush to clean them off. ''Using a stainless steel bristle  brush to clean works well too

Reply:A quick shot from the air compressor cleans magnets right up...

Reply:I do both woodworking and metalworking, so I needed a clamp rack for all different types.  A few months ago, Wood Magazine had an article on a really versatile one. (http://www.woodmagazine.com/woodwork...f=wd139&page=4)It’s on a 22” round base on casters and stands about 6’ tall.  The small footprint really saves on floor space.  This is what I built from the plans.  I just pull it close to where I’m working and turn it so the type of clamps I need are within easy reach. Reply:Here is one I built about 15 years ago, it works great if you have the wall space Attached Images
Reply:Here's an old thread for more ideas.Post 17 shows a sketch of one I had and loved years ago. Lots more good ideas there, too.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=33017Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]
Reply:When I was big into woodworking i bought one of these. I have since adapted it to all my clamps (welding and woodworking) and I love the fact i can roll it wherever i need it. http://www.grizzly.com/products/Clamp-Buddy/D3605
