Anybody used on of these? Anygood? How long do the blades last?
Reply:I have one and am using the snot out of it. I rarely use anything else. If you ever cut floor grating, you will know what I mean if you try it out. Same with large sheets of plate. It will take a little getting used to, but that doesn't take too long. After that, you will wonder how you ever got along without it.I am using a Metal Devil blade on it now. Even with a busted tooth it still cuts better than the Mil blade that came with it. I have no idea how many cuts that blade has made either. I lost count.....maybe three hundred so far? Mostly 1/4-1/2 plate and some 1/4 wall tube and beams. A lot of that was on 1/4x8" wide plate, too. Long cuts, but man were they straight and nice. I say go for it!
Reply:I'm guessing I know the answer to this alread, but is it loud as heck? Like if I use it in my basement my wife upstairs will run out of the house screaming?(Of course that may be seen as a benefit.....)
Reply:As to the added benefit, I suppose that would depend on whether or not she is armed when she comes back! Mine would be. It really isn't as loud as I expected. On some material, it isn't any louder than a skil saw. But, they can be pretty loud sometimes. When I am cutting heavy stuff or long cuts, I will use ear plugs. On thin material or quick cuts, I won't. Overall, I would say it isn't as loud as a DW Multicutter either. I cut some 1/8 plate the other day. I would have to say a skilsaw on plywood would be louder. Time wise, they were about the same....now that is cool. 30 seconds or less to cross cut a 4' wide steel plate. What is not to like?? |
