I'm not one to sit and marinate on regrets - what I should've done, could've done, and would've done - maybe because there are just too many! LOLBut I'm just a tad curious about y'all! In particular, anyone over the age of 35.Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently (if anything) with your welding interest/education/skill/career path?
Reply:Played Pro Hockey when I was much younger....Built MY OWN race car instead of putting everybody else's stuff together......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Regret ever regretting, if that makes any sense . I have a buddy that went to school for mechanics and culinary arts but ended up being a drug dealer. I will be asking him the very same question you ask here the next time I see him.
Reply:I really don't have any regrets about my actual career path. The private sector palliative care industry has its pros and cons like anything else. I do however, have regrets about not taking the time to acquire more practical skills sooner.... such as welding which.... I thoroughly enjoy. There's a definite learning curve that I'm struggling with. It would have been so much easier dealing with the learning curve had I been younger when work-arounds for declining vision/hearing/strength/etc., wouldn't have been necessary.MM 211Smith Tru Lite O/A set, Thanks Bob!Lincoln AC-225--But you must not change one thing, one pebble, one grain of sand, until you know what good and evil will follow on that act. Reply:At 58 years of age and a welding career nearly 35 years now,(31 as an owner) I don't regret any of it. I love getting up and going to work ,still make a few mistakes...so what...still learning and still loving it!
Reply:I don't regret anything. Would I do it different if I did it again? I would be surprised to hear someone say they would not. I think I want to change other people more than myself. Reply:I love what I do but to do it over I'd be flying jets off an aircraft carrier!
Reply:We should all live life with no regrets, living life with regrets is like carrying around a constant burden. I am under 35, is there things we would all do differently? Absolutely.. Regret not doing them? Nah hindsight is 20/20Last edited by That Guy There; 08-22-2014 at 06:11 PM.

Reply:I would have taken the time to say thank you to the teachers I had, both in school and in life. Too many of them are gone now......To ride, shoot straight, and speak the truth. Reply:There's a lot of things I think I might have done differently. But who knows where I would be now, maybe better or maybe worse. I can't change what I've done in the past, so learn from your mistakes and try not to make them in the future.

Reply:I am the sum of my experience , and since I am pleased with who I am there isn't anything I would change. Good times , and Hard times come and if we let them also go . Each leaves a mark that makes you who you are today .
Reply:On afterthought I do think I have a regret. I wish I would have somehow been introduced to machining when I was in grade school. I don't care if I ever worked it as a trade or made any money off it whatsoever but I believe it has been the most influential and advancing paradigm to me regardless of what I actually chose to do in life. It really changes the way you look at everything.
Reply:And dont ya know, when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
Reply:I would have gone to a 4 year college and gotten a degree instead of trade school that did nothing for me. I would have taken more business classes and been bette with money instead of building race cars.Wish I would have stayed married too.Oh and I would have never ever gone to devry.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
