I saw this for sale on a used machinery website and thought it was pretty neat. Those old Delta drill presses look very cool.MM252Miller Bobcat 3 PhaseHobart 140Jet BandsawSmith Oxy-Acetylene TorchMore Ideas than Skills...
Reply:Where is it?  I'd be up for something like that. I have no idea why.
Reply:we used to have set up like that, only using air drills.was used for drilling extruded foam battens.
Reply:I like the ideal of the multi head, just curious about the catch tray around the table. It would make cleanup easy. I wouldn't mind a small gutter on my welding table.JobSmart MIG125Lincoln AC225-SLincoln Pro-Mig 175Dewalt GrindersRidgid ChopsawIR Garage Mate CompressorAny thing worth doing, is worth doing right.
Reply:There's a used machinery shop near me and they have a few two and four head drill press tables like that. I know they buy out a lot of old factories. The owner once told me there are a couple of guys that buy up a containers worth of equipment every few months then ship it over to China.

Reply:I have ran ones like that (a long time ago)  up to a 6 head drill table, they were for step drilling parts, each head would be set up to use a fixture to hold the part to be drilled. you would start it head #1 place the part to be drilled in the fixture, dill the part then move to drill #2 and on down the line as needed. Some times you would have auto feed on the heads so you could remove the part from one fixture  replace it with one that hadn't been drilled yet , start the freed , take the part you removed and start all over at the next drill and right on down the line till you were back it the first drill.the catch tray was for the coolant retunn back to the tank setting on the floor under the table to be reused.Worked for Rockford Clutch company  and we ran a lot of parts on lines like that, now days they have CNC maching centers that will do the same tupe of work.Joe

Reply:I use to run a drill press like that when I was younger.  Trying to hold .0004 tolerance on one of those was tough.---No good deed goes unpunished---
Reply:Its called a gang drill.  Its already been said, but each drill would be for a different operation.  Like drill, ream, tap, countersink, etc...
Reply:"I'll send you a pm with a link to the place if you are seriously interested."I'm definitely interested. Thanks.

Reply:They used a tumble fixture to set alignment pins into matched set housings.  Had to drill thru aluminum first then thru stainless.  The stainless would gall up the aluminum which didn't give me much room for cleanup with the reamer.     I hated those days, but I did learn a lot about drills and drill tip design.---No good deed goes unpunished---
