I needed to make a stock support stand for my horizontal bandsaw. I already owned a light duty set of axle stands, but these, even when fully extended were still about 12 inches too short to serve as stock supports. Occasionally, I still use the the axle stands so I did not want to make a permanent modification that would render them useless as axle stands, so this is what I came up with.I had a short piece of DOM tubing that was the same OD as the axle stands, so I turned the outside down to slip fit inside the existing tube, bored the inside out to fit some smaller stock I had in my shop. Then I drilled and tapped a 3/8 x 16 hole, cut the head off a 3" bold and bent it to make a handle. Then I bent up a piece of 3/16 plate for the top and welded it to the smaller tube, and there you have it. Its still an axle stand for when I need it, and a much taller stock support stand when needed....cheers,mike
