So which manufacture do you prefer for welding rods and wire? Right now I'm using Forney rods because its all I can get here locally in town. So I can't say its my preference its like my only option right now. I have not had any real trouble with them. I'm ordering a mig machine on Monday. I'd like to try it with flux cord first as I won't have the money for a bottle for a few weeks. Anyway what is your preference?Miller Maxstar 200 strMontgomery Ward 250 AC/DC
Reply:Been pretty happy just goin' over to HomeDepot for some Lincoln L-56 .030 or .035 flux core for my HHot Glue Gun 140 - price okay but convenience rules!!!
Reply:Yup, I love Lincoln L-56 "SuperArc." I also love Lincoln "Excalibur" stick electrodes. However, I find that Forney stick electrodes are SUPERB!!! To me, their 7014's are so FRICKN smooth, it should be illegal. I find the Forney's are superior to Hobart electrodes and Lincoln "fleetweld" type rods. I probably have around 500lbs of stick electrodes, from Radnor, Lincoln, ESAB, Atom Arc, Hobart and Forney. Again, the Forneys are the smoothest, next to Excalibur 7018's. if I had to throw out all of my rods, but one brand, I would keep the Forneys.Last edited by SuperArc; 03-30-2013 at 11:37 PM.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller 625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita Baileigh NRA Life Member |
