Had a little repair job for a co-worker today on his 4 wheeler muffler. Have to post the last two pics in another post. Attached ImagesGood judgement comes from experience.Experience comes from bad judgement.
Reply:And the rest of the pic's. Believe it or not even this S.S. muffler is rusting from the inside out. I believe it is from water getting inside the muffler. Before I welded it, I had it standing on end and water came out of it. Hopefully this lasts him awhile. Attached ImagesGood judgement comes from experience.Experience comes from bad judgement.
Reply:You should drill a hole on the bottom of the muffler at front and at back. The process of combustion will produce moisture that will condense into water. Most mufflers get hot enough to burn off this moisture when the whole thing gets up to operating temperature. If he is like most guys, he hoses off his rig after a good dirty ride. So if there is water in it, give it a place to drain off. A 1/8inch hole should be good enough. And stainless will rust. The heating cycles take a toll on the metal in mufflers. And again, it depends on the series used. Did they use one series so it could be polished nicely for retail sale and maybe sacrifice stainless properties?Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
