Ok folks, here's the situation. Needed a new argon regulator/flowmeter on the cheap (first problem, yes I know, we can all safely skip the chicom discussion ). Ordered this beaut from you -know-where on ebay without even thinking about the differences in International Standards for fittings (DIN, CGA, et. al.). So when it arrived it had this wonky fitting on it that I have never seen before and have spent the last hour trying in vein to identify. So this begs my 2 questions; what fitting is it and can I get an adaptor? I really try to solve my own problems and avoid posting as much as I can, but this one has me both stumped and discouraged. Reply:looks like it could be a medical fitting
Reply:That is a CGA350. That would mean that the regulator was used on Hydrogen cylinders.
Reply:Rex: I see, thanks. I found a converter fitting, but I think I'll just go the route of getting a proper (domestic) regulator rather than mucking about with a fitting that costs as much as the POS regulator. Thanks!
Reply:looks more like a 540, for oxygenyou can buy the nut and nipple for a 580 connection, but chances are that is a pressure regulator, not a flow control device (flowmeter/flowgauge)Experience is something you get right after you need it

Reply:Fred: It's a flowmeter/regulator, you just can see it in the picture... my bad.Cope: yeah that's what I was afraid of so I'm just gonna get a decent setup domestically. |
