The Blade that came with my Milwaukee 14" Dry Cut Saw has gone tango uniform very quickly, had it sharpened once, cut great for a few cuts, then nothing.  Very disapointing given the useage.  Saw is great, blade appears to be of far lesser quality.  I would welcome any recommendations, I have heard  Metal Devil blades by MK Morse are good, if they are anything like their other tools they have to be good.  If you have a favorite blade and wouldn't mind letting me know it would be much appreciated.  I cut the usual stuff, low carbon angle iron, square tubing 11ga, 1 in round cold rolled, and flat, nothing exotic.  Was planning on 72 tooth. In advance thanks.Miller 210Miller Spectrum 300 PlasmaMiller EconotigJet Mill/DrillGrizzly 14x36 LatheVictor Oxy/Act
Reply:I was going to use one of these when my Makita blade needs replacing:http://www.mytoolstore.com/tenryu/steelp.htmlNo experience with them yet though."Common sense is not very common"http://www.tahoekeyshome.com
Reply:I think you might be pushing it with the 1" round cold rolled. I know that from what I've experienced with the one at work, anything material thicker than 1/4" makes short life of the blade. We have a porter cable and we've tried a couple of different brands (can't think of the names right now ) but, I don't think that any are better or worse than the porter cable original. I did try a 96 tooth once and that went away really quick. We send ours out to be sharpend but, we try to check them frequently so they aren't missing too many teeth. They won't sharpen them or replace the teeth if it costs more than 50% of a new one. Hope that helps. "Every choice you make will effect at least one other person"
Reply:the metal devil works pretty well and actually outlasted my Milwaukee blade by quite a bit.  As for the 1" you should be fine, I have been cutting some 2x4 solid flatbar with good results, but use air as a coolant with cuts that thick.  I just recently dulled this blade after cutting some "tempered" lawn mower blades Bullet industries has a blade for around $40 . About 1/3 of all the others I have found.  I plan to get one to see how it performs.
Reply:Hey Hammerfest,Where I work, we have 2 Porter Cable 14" metal saws, and at my shop I have a Milwaukee 14". I use DeWalt, Frued Diablo, and Avenger14" 72T ferrous metal blades that have C7 tungsten cutters. Also, at home, I use the Avenger Thin Kerf 14" C7 for all my aluminum cutting. Do not waste your money on any blades that do not have C7 tungsten tips. These blades last quite long and the secret to lasting is to keep your hand feeding with a steady pressure and not "hog" cut the metal. We generally get at least 6 re-sharpenings done before the blade is a loss. The only time I use a lubricant is when cutting aluminum and I use WD-40 exclusively. You would be surprised how effective WD keeps the tips free from any buildup. The DeWalt blades we get for about $100, and the Frued and Avenger I've gotten on E-Bay for $40-80, depending on how lucky I get. Anyway, keep in mind the grade of the cutting tips to get the most service from the blades.....DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Gents--I sure do appreciate the feedback and tips, I didn't realize that you might be able to get that many sharpenings out of a blade, I will definetly keep an out out for the grade of carbide and will hunt around and compare the blades. What I probably should of done was to hold on to my 15 year old Milwaukee Abrasive Saw and used it for instances where I have lots of solid stock to cut, I lesson learned. Again, thanks for the input.Miller 210Miller Spectrum 300 PlasmaMiller EconotigJet Mill/DrillGrizzly 14x36 LatheVictor Oxy/Act
Reply:I have been using mostly DeWalt blades. I recently picked up a Metal Devil. I use them primarily on my 8" saw and they are outlasting the Mil blades 2 to 1. Figured they may be good in the 14" size as well. FWIW, cold rolled is how I killed several blades. 1 1/2" CR round did a number on my DeWalt blades. I only got a few hundred cuts after the CR.  I will use the abrasive or a bandsaw for CR next time.
