Reply:Oh yeah, wait till he gets the Dynasty 280 DX dialed in. I expect it's both the man and the machine. Zap won't try a Dynasty, but I only imagine what he could do with one. Though, I fear he'd need a 700 to weld those massive aluminum pieces he works on.

Reply:Couple of points...on the simple machines..The 175 is not that great of a machine for thicker aluminum. It's never has been.. The PT 225 has 230 amps AC, and will melt smaller pieces of 3/8 pretty well. Having a bit of adjustment in balance, and the extra amps,duty-cyle is really money well spent. Just don't want rookies to stop on a under powered machine, unless they are only going to weld thin aluminum.. That is something that should be pointed out right up front in the video. Amps, and duty-cycle are very important on the smaller transformer machines when welding AC. I would never buy below a 200 amp machine. It's the magic # as to getting the puddle wet fast. Reply:Steve,I am ok with the Smaller inverters with 200-220 + amps. It suits my needs fine. Other people would be disappointed on using them on anything over .0250 aluminum. Wave Balance = more time on Electrode - You can adjust freq, and balance farther over then a Transformer machine, so it acts a bit bigger.. So there are reasons to buy machines for more adjustments. Get more AC input Per amp.. in general. The little transformer machines can weld thicker with Preheat, and Helium mixes, but you can't fix the low duty-cycle. It's kind of false economy to buy under powered for your needs. Everybody should weld with a Miller Econotig to see what happens when you try to do too much with too little.. It's almost like look at what my 30 amp plasma can cut.. 1 inch, and it's awesome.. Yea, if you have all day, and want to work the machine to death..
