Reply:Meet the Joker today in Las Vegas!!! That sounds funnyIf I was closer , like 550 miles or so, I'd take you up on that beer. What Im wondering is, Chinese food for breakfast?
Reply:I am staying at the Eastside Cannery. It is close to my office. I like the rooms. They are always nice, they are clean and really cheap. 29 bucks a night. I stayed at the New York New York for 300 bucks a night and I like the Cannery better. It is on Boulder Hwy close to Sams Town. I come here a lot for work. I cover the entire western half of Arizona, southern Nevada and over to the Utah border. So I get some serious windshield time. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't fool around on my wife (anymore). I hate giving the money I am here earning to the casino, so I don't gamble. So that leaves me with sightseeing. But I want to sightsee with her. I wait til she gets here to do stuff. She only comes up for the weekend once in a while. I am here for a week or two usually. We just went and ate at the Rio buffet. Best place in town for a buffet. It is up to 35 bucks a person now. Geeez. On the way back we drove down boulder hwy and played Hooker Hunt. We try to see how many hookers we can spot. I have been here all week and so I kinda had the advantage. There is one that cracks me up. She has to be about 230lbs. She dresses like she is 18 and 97lbs. Her bottom biscuits are hanging out and there is cottage cheese on them! I cracked up.Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain

Reply:This is an awesome post Joker! (root beer) Nice of you to openly offer, and it shows what kind of a guy you are.I'm not into Vegas. I may buy some stupid crap, but at least I get something stupid for my money. I've been there twice and brought $50 per night to blow on gambling. After I lost the first $20, I put the $30 in my pocket and walked out. I just can't throw it away. One time, walking through Bellagio, Cindy Crawford walked so close past me, if I would have stuck my arm out, I would've smacked her in the face. And it was the worst experience. She looked great from the neck up. From the neck down, a warped 2x4 had more curves than her. She's a skeleton! Never liked her after that.Happy anniversary, have a great trip. I hope you meet up with some of the guys and post some pics."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Was there from 1976 through 1978 at Nellis. It was ok then, but still expensive for a young airman with a spouse & kid.Fast forward to today, still expensive, no spouse, no kids at home. Been back a couple times, last time stayed a week. After the first 24 hours of card play, it's pretty boring unless you go to the shows. The winnings from the tables paid for a couple shows, the fuel to drive there, the hotel stay & food. Came home with a couple bux left over, so all in all it was a good trip.Joker, I'm not going to Vegas to meet ya............... drop by here when you get back.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build
Reply:We always enjoy the $3.49 ham and eggs at Arizona Charlies on Decatur. Even after their remodel/move of the restaurant. Many specials were eliminated, but a few remain. I haven't been to LV for a few years and am not there now, so I can't meet you. Here's a story from when I was first learning to weld: A friend from Florida was staying in LV and I was also in town and he's a fabricator by trade, so he offered to spend a day teaching and helping me learn. So, we ran around town and rented equipment and came across a metal supplier to buy scrap. We explained what we were doing and he told us to pick what we wanted from a pile and did not charge us!! And the local Airgas people were really nice and helpful getting us what we needed with our rental equipment and after a few hours, we were back at his girlfriend's house working on one of my first "lessons". Enjoy your trip and Happy Anniversary!!
Reply:I am so bummed. No takers. Oh well, we went and ate at the Carve restaurant inside the Eastside Cannery Hotel. OH WOW do they ever have a super good Filet!! 2 inches tall and about 5 inches across. It was labeled a 10oz Filet, but I think it was more! The flavor...oh, the flavor!!Then we played some CRAPS. I think she is up about 3 bills and I am down 10bucks. My company pays for my hotel and food. So I am only paying for her food out of pocket. Anyways, I don't drink, but my wife does. So here is a picture of how I am trying to keep her in good spirits! hahahahahaMy redneck bar-style ice chest!!!7-Up, Seagrams 7, Red's Apple Ale, Dasani water, and I got some non alcoholic O'Douls to try. Reply:Sorry I can't drop by to visit ... WAIT !!! Is this a Project?!? Or does it need to join that Gr8 G8 in "off topic"?Flashback - Oct '02 to Jun '03 - Lived at the Budget Suites across from Sam's town. Nice and new then. Visited the strip or downtown every other day, but never got around to throwing money away (gambling). Ate out, did shows, etc, etc ...Best experience - Sunset drinks and dinner at the Stratosphere 1000 ft up - watching the sun go down and the Strip lights come up - and being "above it all!" Worst - attitude - this town wants something for nothing. In Scottsdale, everyone asked for my business card. In Vegas ... "got any spare change man???" Reply:Hey, Joker,Seems like we paid about $35 per head at the Rio buffet ten years ago; figured it'd be $50 by now. Do they still offer all-you-can-eat lobster? I maintained the gun and bomb systems on F-100s in 1962-3, and worked part time in a Carrol's hamburger stand on The Strip.I can't/don't eat as much as I used to when I was running 8-10 miles a day, but am looking forward to giving the Rio one more shot before they pack me away for good.Cheers, Weldordie
Reply:Great invitation Joker and my wife and I would take you up on it but, WE JUST LEFT there and got home here!!! I'm new to welding and a "lurker" on this forum just now starting to post but it's funny; welders, like film people and horse people, we seem to have a fraternity. We too are always anxious to meet others with our passions so whenever we're in another town like with NAB last week or NFR later in the year, both in Vegas, we always invite others to meet who we've only met on the Net in our forums. SO, again, thanks for the invite. Maybe when we're up there again. By the way, nice in-room buffet. Love those mini bottles!
Reply:Mick,Because we like to meet people. We were just talking about MarkBall2 smoking some goat meat and how great it was to sit around with Bret, Sallie, Mark and his mate, my kids came along too. Good times. It led to me performing a wedding ceremony at Mark's house as well! That couple has been married for a while now. Great people. We can only gamble for so long. Have done most of the sightseeing a long time ago. I don't drink so, going out and getting blasted is not for me anymore. How could we go wrong? We did the obligatory rabbit/weasel thing already. Our dinner was great, the only way to make it better would be great company!Fabn4fun, well, I asked people to meet up so I could post pictures of our meet. So, the way I figure, this IS a project just trying to find other welders in Las Vegas, to which, at this point, I am failing miserably!!!!Weldordie, they had the biggest freaking crab leg deal ever! No lobster. sorry. But the mongolian bbq rocks!jlames, hey, you snooze you lose! Sorry I missed you. I tried having dinner with my youth pastor this past week. He was here for NAB too!!! He does our podcast stuff. He is in a band and stuff as well. I don't really know what the extent of NAB is to him. So, I say it is a project, and I DID include some pictures so far. You guys make the call. Let the crowd speak. If the MODS bump me, no big deal. But is ANYONE here in LV???? All these people and none are welders? Reply:Nice. I have my work truck here and Kelly got a rental to come up instead of driving my diesel hog 2008 Dodge 4x4 MegaCab 1 ton, dual rear axle with a cummins turbo 6.7liter. Saving my tires. I just spent 800bucks for 2 front tires. Sheesh.I have been here for a week already, so I knew they were on strike. What a bunch of losers. Unions. Yea Unions! right. Reply:Ouch.. I just now saw this thread. Gotta log in more often.. I was actually going to suggest the buffet at the Rio. that is the best deal in town. (Its only half price for locals!) Hmmm.. I actually could have used the meet up.. thinking of buying a shop press off of craigslist, no pickup truck.. And i would have bought lunch, too...Feel free to contact me next time you are here...
