Reply:The Trail Blazer 302 Airpak is what i use but there is no diesel option for the airpak The pipepro is an excellent welder with the cat diesel but no compressor optionBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me What would SATAN do ?? Reply:Buy a Trailblazer and run it for awhile, at 500 hours, if you dont like it, sell it, you will get almost retail price out of it. If your not sure about the machine, go with the gas model and see if you like it. Me i love mine, nothing suits my needs better, i have larger machines, they are more of a pain in the *** than they are worth most days, the only thing they get used on is air arcing, and thats not a big demand most the time. How often do you plan to run over 5/32 electrodes? How often do you plan to air arc? How often do you plan to run 3/32" flux core? Well if next to never, id say go for the TB302 or 325 whatever they got now and see how it works for you, when you need the power, its not that expensive to lease a machine for a week. But thats just my opinion.I forgot how to change this.
Reply:Yea i dont think ill be doing any air arc cause i figured i could do it all with the plasma cutter. It sucks cause it looks like i should get the miller 400 but the cost of that thing is getting up there.how quiet are these running ? cause if i drop this much cash im going to use it as a generators for my plasma. If taken care of how long do these really last ?Peak: 5500 wattsContinuous: 4000 watts, 1-phase,34/17 A, 120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hzwhile weldingAdditional Generator Power forDeluxe Models (while NOT welding)Big Blue 400:3-phase: 15 kW, 36 A, 240 VAC or1-phase: 12 kW, 50 A, 120/240 VACBig Blue 500:3-phase: 20 kW, 48 A, 240 VAC or1-phase: 12 kW, 50 A, 120/240 VACSo i can run 3 phase tools off of this ?Last edited by Bigrich954rr; 01-01-2013 at 05:39 AM.

Reply:Originally Posted by AndyAThere's the Big Blue Airpak. It's diesel, but the price tag is $24k, plus another $2k for optional generator that's large enough to run a plasma. If you want a diesel welder, I'd say the best bet is an seperate engine driven air compressor. That's assuming you have space for both of them. The TB302 Airpak sounds nice and saves space, but that's a big price to pay for saving a little room on the truck (roughly $6k over the price of a non-airpak TB302).You can get a reasonably capable gas-powered piston compressor in the $2k to $3k range. Granted it's not a screw compressor, may not last as long, and it's another engine to maintain, but you can buy two at the same price.
Reply:you could also buy two recip compressors for the cost of one rotary screw compressor. But with that said rotorys are Superior in every way, if you get one with synchronous AC drive they are the cats pajamas add an air dryer and theres nothing more reliable for clean dry air.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
