I can get a large discount through work from Grainger Supply and I see they carry the Dayton line of Drill Press. Is this just Grainger's brand of another Chinese Drill Press?
Reply:Probably.  My Dayton 4 ton porto-power was Taiwan made.WeldingWeb forum--now more sophomoric banter than anything else!
Reply:Not sure where they are made now, but in my experience most of the Dayton stuff I have seen were a quality product.  69 Chevy,  just curious but is your porta-power a "dayton" or a Daytona?  I have a Dayton set that is us made, but I also have a copy (Daytona) that is Taiwan.  Was just curious.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:I agree with Hammack - the Dayton stuff is US made, especially their electric motors are VERY good motors! I have equipment with Dayton motors that are 10, 15 and 20 years old...at least.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Yep, Dayton has been making good motors for years.  Baldor is definetly made in the USA, not sure about Dayton nowadays.  One thing I would guess is that they don't actually make the drill presses here. I wouldn't believe that Dayton can sell enough heavy equipment to compete with the Chinese/Taiwan stuff but rather, like Sears and others, designs them to their specs and uses their motors.  Definetly a better quality than HF.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
