Hi all, new to the forum I've been looking around for probably a year but this is the first post. I'm looking to set up a trailer to do on site jobs with my business ,right now I work mostly from my shop. I'm getting a miller trailblazer 325 to start but not sure what all else to put on the trailer and just looking for ideas. I already have mainly all of the equipment in my shop but do you guys have two of everything and leave on set on trailer and one in shop or switch back and forth? What do you carry on you trailer etc. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks In advance
Reply:I'm kinda new to this also in the form of a portable welding trailer and service. I have shop equipment and have had a portable welder for many years but wanted something to just hitch up to and go. I purchased an older welder already set up for portability, added my owned duplicate set of torches and am building stock to leave on the trailer full time. Basically I want to back up and go without having to load everything from scratch so some items and stocks will be duplicated. Typically if it will fit in the shop I use a mig machine but personally I have to see if I can make a go of it before investing heavily into a mobile mig type affair. Right now stick will serve my purpose.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....

Reply:I had my welder on a trailer with a big compressor, and a job box. Yes, all the tools are duplicated, otherwise you will find yourself in the field without a common tool, and feel like an idiot. I also found the trailer impractical, and swapped the welder into the truck. I got a lot more use out of it mounted in the truck. I later put the welder and compressor on a skid that goes on the truck, and drops onto the trailer, or onto my big flatbed trailer.  The biggest issue I had with the trailer was needing to go install a shop built item. I would have to make two trips, one with the big trailer, and then go back and get the welding trailer. Very inconvenient. The tools are always on the truck in two pork chop tool boxes. Get an extra hood for the truck, and if you use AD hoods, get a single shade fixed lens, wrap it up in tissue, and keep it in the glove box. I have had them fail too frequently, a long way from the shop, and keep that as a backup. Have used it more than once.
