I built this weed drag from a material separator grate, and it works like a champ. There is one small problem though......when I go from the backyard to the front,I have to cross the driveway. The drag is heavy, like almost 200lbs,and when I crossed the driveway I tore up some asphalt. So I decided to fix that over the last 2 days.First pic is the parts; HF solid wheels rated at 125lbs each, 3/16"x 3" strap, 3/16"x 1" strap, 5/16" all thread, and 3/8" tube.Welded that all together and made the wheels retractable, so I didn't have to figure out how to make them removable.I use 1/4" pins with hairpins to keep them in position. The next pics are them welded on and there operation. My welds were horrible today.....today I was a grinder, not a welder.HF 180 amp/240 volt Mig (cap mod)1987 Harley FLHTP (project)1990 F350 XLT Lariat S/C dually1990 S&S 11SC Cabover Camper2011 Ford Ranger S/C XLT
Reply:Nice job, I'm sure it will work well. That grate is screen cloth for rock processing machinery. It's very high carbon steel so watch the welds on it, they may crack.
