Had more journals to rebuild this AM..Got the first side done in my usual fashion so I decided to see how far I could go with the other side WITHOUT..Stopping and starting..Flipping my mask up at any time..Contaminating the tungsten..And anything else that would make you stop and start anywhere..SO......I got 30 pcs of 1/16" filler out and put them where I could grab them without looking for them..Set up the positioner..Had at it.23 pieces later it was done.Start at the start end at the end ..NO interruptions at all..Was a good challenge but in the end I WIN!Pics are somewhat in order..Last pic is the finished journal...1.875 +.0000 - .001...I go .0005 under..Now what to try next?I play all the fun games......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Always trying to out do the last bead or make this fit up a little "more square" than the last. I know a local guy that runs, well ran, an exhaust shop. They call him "Pan head", it has something to do with cooking, but it aint supper. Yeah stupid would fit in his list of qualities. How about south paw, laying on your back 7' up on a baker board,  overhead using a mirror with a piece of 6" pipe, 2 pieces of 3"  pipe, a 24" air duct and a 10" thick bundle of data cable, that you can't burn up, in a tray with hangers every foot between you and it. And the med-gas pipe fitter (a friggin' prima-donna with a bad attitude) waiting on you to move so he can run O2, Vacuum and other lines.Oh yeah you can't make more smoke than the fume extractor can suck or you'll trigger the alarms and cause the [still functioning] ER to shut down and evacuate.Yeah, do that.Ok, I'll settle for off hand with the positioner running backwards.

Reply:Zap,I hate to burst your bubble but, you sir, are not that special.I can do that all day long with my machine. As a matter of fact, my machine eliminates the need to grab for more rod. It has a continuous feed of wire and even maintains constant voltage, unlike your machine that merely maintains constant current during your weld. Heck, my machine is so friggin cool that it even has a gun to hold in my hand. I could totally have gone longer!
