Good day,http://www.cut-like-plasma.com/index.htmHas anybody seen or used one of these? It looks like a nice tool, but only if it really does what they say it will.I did a search here and came up empty, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks,Reece
Reply:You might want to search again,  this has been discussed several times.  It seems to work well like most stuff if you  know what you're doing.  The guy in the demo is awesome but I don't know of too many people that get to be awesome on this thing.  The concept is great but I'm not sure how practical it is.Keep searching because I know this thread has come up before.MichaelMillermatic 25115" Rockwell Drill Press10" Logan Lathe5hp - 2-stage 80 Gallon CompressorHome Made Sand / Soda Blaster
Reply:Disclaimer: I have very limited O/A experience.I have a buddy that has one, I tried it briefly. My impression was it really isn't that much different than o/a cutting with a normal torch, which I suck at. I sucked with the henrob just as much, it certainly wasn't like using a plasma torch. The dude in the video obviously really knows what he's doing. But as I say, I have limited experience so am not a very good reference. Hopefully someone else will chime in.- John
Reply:Hello,I just thought I would give you my advice (worth about 0.001 cent) on the Henrob.  It looks like a miracle tool, it isn't.  One of the big claims is the gas savings, but that is on welding and not cutting.  The gas usage on cutting is basically the same as a Victor torch and the welding is about the same (maybe a little better) as well.  It seems to me on the website (unless they have changed it lately) they are saying your regs are set at 3 and 5 (or something close) but that's not for cutting.  It duped me.  The guy on the video is a master at cutting and must have used it for 20 years.  My O/A cutting is decent, my henrob cutting is less decent(??).  Not worth the money to me, someone else may disagree.  It definitely takes time to learn to cut and weld with it (especially if you already have used a traditional torch) and I already had those skills with the Victor.  I sold mine, lost a little money but chalked it up to experience.  In my opinion, if you want to cut like plasma, buy a plasma.  There is no substitute.Hope this helps. Thanks,JasonMillermatic 210 w/ SpoolgunMiller 375 ExtremeMiller Trailblazer 250GMiller AEAD 200-LEVictor Journeyman O/A
Reply:Thanks for the replies.  I sort of figured it was a "too good to be true" scenario.  There isn't much you are going to be able to do to improve a torch, gas is gas.Reece
Reply:Before discounting this, I guess I'd have to ask if a torch cuts as cleanly as this seems to? This seems aimed at people who need clean cuts without the expense of a plasma cutter. This looked pretty clean to me.  I dunno...
Reply:Hey Vanya,I didn't mean to discount the quality of cut the henrob will make.  It can make a very nice cut, but so can a regular torch (like a Victor Journeyman).  I was only trying to point out that in my opinion it is not a miracle tool that someone can just pick up and cut like that guy in the video I made some decent cuts with it, but nothing like his.  I can't make a cut with my victor like his either, but I have seen some pipeline welders that can (just a bigger kerf).I do think it is a quality torch, just don't expect that kind of performance out of the box.  Like everything else, practice, practice, practice.
