i'm looking for a cutting torch my buddy has a victor torch he was gonna give me for 50 dollars but is a acetylene fuel torch only i'm thihinking of changing it over to oxypropane because of the cost but i wonder should i switch that set over to propane or just get a propane kit bakers gas.com has a oxypropane set with everything for 228 dollars plus free shipping but what is the better deal
Reply:All you need is 20 bucks for a two piece propane cutting tip. At a later date you can change out the hoses for fuel gas hose that will stand up better then regular acetyelene hose. For home use it is unlikely you would have to change. I never have had problems with my hose.
Reply:Is the torch a straight cuttng torch? Like a 300 fc. Or a ca2460 attachment? If so, you just need to change the tip. A victor GPN is the propane series tips. Your acetylene regulator will screw into a standard female thread propane valve and work just fine. Propane and acetlene both have cga510 valves. The main differance between an oxy/acet and an oxy/propane is the material of the regulator diaphram and the torch tip.Why buy it for $10 when you can build it yourself for $100.
Reply:Iirc, I bought two 2 piece propane tips for $12 delivered on eBay.Some acetylene regulators fit propane tanks and some don't. I scored a Victor propane regulator on eBay for $42 delivered because mine didn't.So I'm in for $54.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
