I keep finding them in pretty good looking condition on CL here for around $200. Is this a good deal or should I keep looking? And is there something "blue" that is comparable to the AC 225?
Reply:In my neck of the woods the Lincoln AC version is often in the $150 range (older ones down to $75).In miller I see the AC/DC thunderbolt in the $200 to $300 range.  Nice to have DC and the hand crank (even though I like the old Lincoln welders)  Attached ImagesDave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:If looking for a tombstone welder, I would only consider an ac/dc version as I have been spoiled by learning on DC+ for stick.  Really, the tombstone welders don't seem to ever die, people just want more adjustability over tapped output and move on.  I would agree with Dave on the slightly more expensive, but much more adjustable/capable 'blue' model.BenHarbor Freight Inverter 130 amp DC stick/tig (sold, really!)Lincoln Square Wave Tig 175 AC/DC stick/Tig
Reply:After doing a little research, I might just go new and get a Hobart stickmate AC/DC. Or just wait.
Reply:I have bought many Lincoln 225 welders in perfect working condition for $50.00 off Craigs List site.
