Have not seen this talked about, searched to no avail sooo other than burning up a lotOf electricity, are there any cons to storing rods in a rod oven LONG term, I. E. will it harmThe flux on the rods ??? ThanxMiller 252 Mig w/Spool GunMiller Dynasty 350 TigMiller 225 AC-DC StickMiller Spectrum 875 PlasmaOxy/Acet.
Reply:personally, I don't see how it would harm the flux on the rods, the company that I work for has 2 rod ovens running all the time with I think 7018 rods in them, I haven't taken a close look at the contents, pretty sure that's all they run at work for stick. Maybe a more adept welder can pipe in on this and explain things better. My dad on the other hand has never used a rod oven for his rods out on the farm, just stores them in an old truck.
Reply:I have some 7018's that's been in a rod oven @ 250degrees for six years. (I pretty much TIG everything) I got some out and tried to use them and the 1/8's would burn off to the side only and not from the end. The 3/32's were o.k.I haven't done any research on this because they're at work and I'll just throw them away and buy some new ones but I'll keep my eye on this thread and see what may come of it.Good question |
