Any opinions on the Firepower 235 machine? Sears offers it for less then the Lincoln and it seems to have more bang for the buck. Just wondering if any have one and can speak to its quality. Thanks in advance.
Reply:If it's a DC Stick machine with comparable outputs, there really isn't much to compare or to go wrong on these machines. The transformer will last forever. Uncommonly, sometimes in the future a diode can go bad and leave you with only AC welding until you fix it, which isn't too expensive. For this class of unit, just compare outputs (look at the DC numbers, not the AC) and duty cycles. Also I prefer units that have a constantly variable current control, like the Miller Thunderbolt/Hobart Stickmate. The Lincoln is tapped, but is still an okay unit. |
