has anyone used a hydrogen torch? they look pretty good and i herd that you cant burn yourself with the flame on them
Reply:Yes and they can burn. used to weld gold, melt led and several other applications. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:did you buy one or make your own?
Reply:All that youtube.com stuff is pure BS, the flame isn't magic, it can't tell what it's supposed to heat or isn't. It burns like any other Oxy fuel torch, but has no Carbon to burn, so it should weld a bit better than other fuels, if run a little on the rich (carburizing normally) side. There is on site hydrogen production through the electrolysis of water, giving you both the required O2 and H2 for the cost of electricity and consumables, and you can buy bottled hydrogen and bottled Oxygen. Hope this helps, IIRC the reason it isn't used much is the storage and supply, high volumes of Hydrogen are not cheaply or easily stored, and hydrogen isn't the most readily available gas out there, not that it can't be gotten relatively easy.

Reply:Wm. McCormick's rendition of H2>H1>H2 sounds like what was claimed to occur with Brown's Gas. Is this what you're referring to? I've tried to pursue the above for over 10 years--getting a demo with a Brown's gas generator as a serious buyer of the same. (and being allowed to qualify/quantify---what exactly is being produced by the generator and in the reaction). May 2006-'your's truly' publicly posted a US $10,000 challenge award to claimants of the same.....funny thing.....no takers! 'Money Talks--Bull**** Walks'I don't doubt that this effect may exist--I'm not the least bit interested in a purely H2 generation scheme.Blackbird |
