Hey everyone my first real post!!What is everyone working on. From weekend projects to daily work, i myself is building wine bottle racks out of horse shoes here at home during the weekends, or anything that seems cool.
Reply:Been working on a large, double gated arbor, with a fold down bench. It has been a fun project, but I will be glad when it is done, as it takes up half my garage. In the past week, I have also busted out an 8' bicycle rack out of 1/2" round bar (that was a fun, easy distraction from working on the arbor), and a forge.Check out my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkz...bZg8AYNXGqBjZQ"Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms." - Aristotle

Reply:Drawing up plans for a bell hanger. My wife's uncles were moonshiners and had a Chattanooga Foundry bell that hung in a tree. They would ring the bell 4 times if the revenuers were around to summon everybody to hide their corn liquor and stills. Anyway we have the bell and my wife wants to display it next to the flag pole in memory of her Daddy and his brothers. Hope to start welding on it soon. Reply:I am building a roof rack with an adjustable light cage for a Toyota Tundra. Just a simple rack with a radiused cage to match the windshield curve. I covered the floor with expanded metal. It was supposed to be mounted yesterday but it started raining. (need to drill 8 holes in the roof for the nut-serts)

Finished welding up the frame a couple of days ago and have since been maching the cam, adjustable legs, etc. Will try and post a couple of pics when it is further along.Happy New Year,Bill

Reply:It's doable if you know how to tilt your head, stick out you tongue, while moving your wrist in a counter clock rotation. Just kidding, tacked it up with 6011 1/8 using an Airco 500 amp machine. The wind was blowing to hard to use the mig (miller cp-302) to tack. I welded it the next day with the mig, 24 volts 350 inches on the wire feeder, .045, 75/25. In the places I can't get the nozzle in, I use 7018 1/8 at 130 amps.
Reply:When I first looked at this picture, I thought it was setting on the floor and about 8 feet tall, and was seriously impressed. Then I got to looking and saw the rods on the table top and realized I had the wrong perspective on it.Looks nice.

Reply:I have a extra contractor-style air tank and a new MIG welder and a semester of classes under my belt, so I'm itching to make something usable instead of just 'practice beads and joints', so the plan is to build a small wood-burner out of it. It's 21" tall x 10" dia.The hinges and latch are taped in place for mock up in the pic. I made the hinge-side cut with a metal-cutting blade in my Bosch jigsaw, but I can't quite make the radius I had drawn. It cuts fine, but I just couldn't do as tight a radius on the corners as I wanted. You can see the top right corner is partially cut. I might just call it good enough, as much as I hate to do that. I didn't really want square corners, but I might end up doing that. I still need to figure out what to do for the smokestack. Suggestions welcome! I don't have a specific use in mind for it right now. I'd love to be able to put it in my basement workshop, but think the chimney arrangements would be too much of a pain unless I can go out a basement window somehow.I plan on welding square tubing to the existing brackets for some short 'legs' and some kind of extension on the handle so it can be used safely when in use!Ideas are welcome! Thanks for looking. Attached ImagesLast edited by Migmark; 01-01-2013 at 07:37 PM.
