what gap is typically used on 6g 5" sched 80 pipe? 1/8 or 1/16? thanks
Reply:1/8"..But not always, depends on the welding process used and the person welding and how good the fitter is.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
Reply:For 5p do a 3/32 gapFor tig try a loose 1/8 or 5/32
Reply:It was always written in the procedure used when I was doing it. 1/16th gap and 1/16th land. 3/32s 6010, i forget te amperage range off the top of my head.
Reply:I'm with JoeMayo on this. That's exactly what I used on all my tests and practice. The landing was about a nickel in width. For TIG I used no landing. If you're welding SMAW I found that an 1/8 gap gave a much bigger keyhole.Melt-n-Metal
Reply:uphill or down? TIG, Stick or MIG? Pretty vague question there, bud.
Reply:uphill stick - got a few test coupons gonna try 1/16 and 3/32
Reply:1/16th is the cats meow. Just jam the rod in there and burn it in. 3/32 will work nice as well, but not as nice as 1/16th
Reply:Try 3/32 on the gap and 1/8th land. You can easily drag that with the right heat without whipping it in there.
Reply:I use 3/32 with 1/8 landing.  I drag that bad boy. I like the 3/32 I can run a little bit hotter without it opening up on me.
