I was debating wether or not to post this......... screw it. ***Disclaimer*** - This project is not being done on my decisions. My, "know-it-all" boss is pulling the strings. It's funny though, I made a few suggestions and he blew them off. Until his cousin, who is the Operators craft foreman for a huge crane company, says the exact same $hit I said. Then of course, it's OK! What ever........ He's not even a welding shop, he has no business taking this project on, but since he feels I can do what he wants done, he take it on and make a buck.Anyhow, the one bearing snapped off. And since they were too cheap to buy the correct hydraulic hose, they decided to remove the gussets instead! So this is what happens when you do that."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:First was to air arc and torch the gussets, then use a propane rosebud to heat it up and get it some what straight. Material is 3/4". Then air arc the bearing spindle off because this side was damaged on the bottom. I use the bare minimum of my equipment because I don't get paid extra to bring it. I used 5/16" carbons because that is what I had the most of. I prefer 1/4" for something like this, but that's what I'll buy when I charge for these."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:I had to use a really big dog to push the steel down after I heat it up. The strong back was used to keep it in alignment.I welded it on both sides, then removed all the hardware. Then I gouged the other side and welded it up. Now I gouged this side.End view after gouging to my new weld for 100%.Ground it down, and now I will wait for the material for the new gussets. Don't worry, I'm not done with it yet.He had new hardened steel pins made. But he didn't notice that the end of the pin that goes through the hole is smaller than the bearing side. When I asked if he was going to take them back to get them machined down, he told me to gouge out the holes. Luckily, his cousin stopped by. He mentioned it to my boss and my boss said, "oh yeah, I have to have them machined"! When I was leaving work, he said now Clark doesn't think they have the bearings. I know I'm getting paid........."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!!
