I bought my first TIG cooler today and it is a pretty basic unit. seems to have an inlet, and outlet, a port for adding more water/coolant, and a power plug. there is no on off switch, no flow alarm, on/off switch, nor any other bells and whistles. I get the basic operation I think: fill with coolant, purge the lines, and make sure it is turned on and flowing when welding. Am I missing anything? Are there any tricks or tips I need to be aware of?Miller Multimatic 255

Reply:Assemble it, fill it with coolant made for the purpose, this coolant is formulated to be low conductivity, corrosion resistant. Consider a relay if your welder doesn't already have one. The small size of conductor in water cooled torch leads means they melt without coolant flow. Forget just once to turn on the cooler, you ruin the lead. |
