I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right area. If it's not allowed to post stuff like this, forgive me. IMTS show was held at Chicago last September 8-13,2014. Unfortunately, I missed the event. However, FABTECH expo 2014 heads to Atlanta this November 11-13. I am not sure yet if I will be there. They have a video contest for their exhibitors on their website about american  manufacturing. I have checked the page . Really interesting!PlasmaCam CNC cutterLathe and Band SawClamps

Reply:I still can't confirm if I can go to the event, it's frustrating. I was kind of hoping that most members here would attend the event.PlasmaCam CNC cutterLathe and Band SawClamps

Reply:Good for you Mick. Hopefully you do well enough next time you can come work the booth..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:How about just a booth #.  This place is massive.  I've got 20lbs of reading material and I've only explored about a quarter of it so far.
Reply:No worries.   I hope you get lots of exposure with it here.  I've already spent a lot of imaginary money.

Reply:My bag tore all to hell half way through the day so I had to stuff in to multiple smaller bags.  Definitely some neat stuff, pretty sure I saw a few flux capacitors today.
Reply:Do they have deals on equipment for the show?

Reply:Lots of new and neat tools that I wasn't even aware existed.   There are some decent show deals, nothing mind blowing but I'll save anything I can get.  I really like the fact that I can see and try out equipment that I otherwise wouldn't be able to and get expert advice for my specific needs.
Reply:Originally Posted by bassboy1Yes, some companies did.  For example, both Bessey and Wilton clamps sell for 50% of list price at the show.  Granted, you can always purchase them from online retailers for less than list, but usually not as low as 50%.  Other companies are more interested in sharing literature, and don't have merchandise at the show.I spent much of the day studying ironworkers, and yes, they did have show specials on those.  I'm not sure how that discount compares to what could be negotiated from a salesman on any other day of the year, but I've been given the impression that on a machine like that, there's some benefit to committing to purchase at the show....Originally Posted by Chris T.Did you see the huge vise at the Wilton booth? Bet that thing was still $2K with the 50pct off.
Reply:Had a real good time at the show and looked at a ton of neat things. Saw Lanse and talked with Jim Colt for a while about the Powermax 85 I will probably be getting as an X-mas present to myself. I was supprised that the majority of vendors were not selling small items like gloves, hoods and abrasives at the show.Did pick up a sample pyrex gas lens kit from CK tig torches and saw their new pistol grip amperage control.Stopped by Flange Wizard tools and spent a long time talking with the owner and his son. Picked up some demo items from themI have been looking at a dry cut saw for quick jobs and throwing in the truck if needed instead of the bandsaw. Cleveland Tool Steel had the demo model for sale so that one came home with me.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE

Reply:I was there last week as well.  The strangest thing I saw almost felt bad for them was the row of Chinese booths, as if they all decided to save money and get a row way in he back row and all their booths had the white green theme even though they were different companies.  Most had people either sleeping, eating, half eaten food on countersI've been to three Fabtec now and still have yet to win that esab helmet lolMiller 350PMiller 30AHobart trekHTP Invertig 221

Reply:My 32nd year at the Fabtech /AWS show......I work at the Hypertherm booth  as well as participating as a speaker at SME, FMA and AWS educational sessions.....and look forward to this show every year. I enjoyed chatting with many of my online friends about plasma cutting and metal fabricating in general. There were over 30 cnc plasma cutting machines running live at the show......26 of these were running Hypertherm plasma systems.....the majority being high end industrial machines. I saw Mick's products at the show......a custom OEM magnetic torch breakaway in one of the major industrial CNC manufacturers booths. The booths around the perimeter of the show (most of the small import companies are there....as well as small companies trying to get their "foot in the door") are the low cost booths......often the traffic is very thin in these areas....but it is always worth checking them out. The new, small companies often have some innovative ideas. The show will be at Chicago next year......probably the best place to have the show. If you have never been to Chicago.....it is a great place to visit!Jim Colt   Hypertherm
