Got this idea for this cart from Combat Jump. Drew it up with the help of SkecthUp, so I could get the dimensions correct. I have been a woodworker for many years and have wanted a nice metal table around my table saw, Next Project. I'm not as confident about showing of my welds, but as my skills increase I will. Reply:When I looked at the first pic I thought it was an engine stand with way undersized material (first project + engine stand = bad news). Welcome to the site, good looking cart you have there. Don't be ashamed to show your welds, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the tips/pointers that come from it.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Nice job!! Like SWells said Dont be ashamed to show your welds.. Nobody never picked up a welder and was a instant pro
Reply:Good looking cart. Welcome.
Reply:Thats a great looking Cart, and one of the better ones i've seen, well done and welcome

Reply:That's one of the nicest carts I've seen, awesome job. I'm getting close to starting my first project and hope it comes out half as good as this
Reply:Yeah, the Combat Jump cart is a good design. You certainly flatter him by building one as well as you did, with your own ideas thrown in.
Reply:I like it, probably going to steal the design, if you don't mind, except I'm goint to put a shelf on the very bottom for extra layout tools. Some blue machinesSome red machineslots of heavy steel
Reply:Nice looking cart good job.
Reply:I like it too and would also add a shelf or backet below for all the stuff that's never at hand. The handle over the regulator is a nice idea to help prevent it from getting knocked. I haven't yet built a dedicated cart for mine but when I do, I hope it turns out as nice as your'sXMT304 (school)SP125+ (home)HF 4x6 BandsawGood judgement comes from experience and much of that comes from bad judgement.
Reply:[QUOTE=wirehead;1909851The handle over the regulator is a nice idea to help prevent it from getting knocked. [/QUOTE]I think I would have made the handle go around one side or both sides of the tank rather than over it. That way a taller tank could be used in the future. As it is you are kinda/sorta stuck with using this size or smaller. The larger cubic foot tanks are cheaper per cubic foot to refll. But then it's not too difficult to make the mod to it, if you decide you want to use a larger tank later on.Other than that it turned out nice for a first project, and will be used for years to come on other projects. I'm sure after using it for awhile you will make other additions to it to better serve your purposes. Like maybe a beer holder for when you are arcing.
Reply:Thank you all for the very nice comments, I'm sure I will be adding item to the design as time go on. Maybe a Plasma shelf would be nice ( I always need more tools).Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Reply:Much nicer then my first cart too, looks nice you did a good job, it was well designed http://www.philswelding.com
Reply:Nice job! I, too, am working on design ideas for this classic 'first project'! I'm 2 days from finishing my first 2 welding classes and just bought my first welder---a Hobart Handler 140. The protected valve design is a good idea.
