Lots have asked how it's done so I'm gonna show ya..Start with a nice sharp piece..3/32 Red End here..Using a copper block heat it up RED RED RED!!!(I know the pic sucks)..Let off the pedal and push into the copper and push away at the same time..Now you can get "down inside" hard to do parts..And get results like this..After bending let it cool and now you have to position your hand..torch..tungestion to the proper angles to "Get it Right"I show all the fun stuff.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:pretty cool Zap.  thought i was gonna go through the day and not learn anything.
Reply:Thanks Zap.  Thats a great tip for a newbie like me.   I don't post much I usually just take it all in.  I will be starting welding school soon so I figure taking it all in is the best thing I could do.
Reply:very cool!!!!  and sexy welds   thanks Daye

Reply:Very cool!!! I learned something new already. I could have used this before if I would have known how. I think I will give this a try tomorrow and get a little practice in.Wade

Reply:wow! you have obviously got a lot to teach people. thats one of the coolest tricks ive ever seen! i actually cant wait to go to work in the morning so i can try that!! LOL
Reply:You cant bend tungsten like that! Dont you know you are affecting the gravitational fields when welding with a bent tungsten ? You could reverse the polarity of the whole planet. Not to mention the implications to the world tungsten bending machine market.I have seen the proper way to bend Tungstens and that is not it. You need at least a 4 year college degree and 35 years experience. Next you will be showing us how to manufacture Gonkulator Ringsinsert thoughtful quote from someone else2000 Thermal Arc 300GTSW 3.5 hours1946 Monarch 20 x 54 Lathe1998 Supermax 10x54 Mill2004 Haco Atlantic 1/2" Capacity Lasernot mine but i get to play with it

Reply:Cool Trick, Zap!  Just read about it.I tried to come up with a way to get an "L" shaped tungsten before, by trying to fuse a small piece of it onto the tip.  Ended up with a big, off-center blob on the end, not quite what I was going for. But for better clearance, I *did* come up with a solution - ground the TIG cup to an angle.  I used a diamond burr, kept soaked wet and spun at a slowish speed with my die grinder.  I still use this angle-ground #5 cup when I am in a bind!  Usually its when I can't rotate the torch around an obstructed part.I had to reach my TIG torch up the inside an intake manifold runner, and weld the inside radius of the turn.  Couldn't even see it without sticking a little mirror up in there.  The ground TIG cup let me pull it off.I think your bent tungsten would work similarly, maybe even better for some situations.  I'll give it a try.  The end result looks like it work work similarly to using a micro right angle TIG torch, like this one:  http://www.ckworldwide.com/micro_torch.htm Attached Images

Reply:Another way to bend tungsten that I use whenever I have a really tight spot to get into:No need to dip the tungsten into anything and contaminate it. Just weld with it, and as soon as you are finished, use a set of pliers to bend the glowing tungsten. Have the pliers ready before you weld, and you have to be quick about it. The tungsten will only bend if it's glowing orange still.IAMAW Local 330Airco 300 AC/DC HeliwelderAirco Dip-Pak 200 with Profax spool gunPowr-Kraft AC225Everlast PowerArc 200stBuffalo Forge No.21 drill pressSpeedglas 9100xxAirco, Oxweld, Purox, Victor torchesLincoln Ranger 8
