Any of you pros out there have a source or link off h and that sells 7024 1/8" in smaller quantities? I'm building a HUGE gate at some stables and I want 7024's due to the super high weld deposition it produces. I don't want 14's or 18's. I used those on the last gate. I'll return to those if need be, but I want 7024's. I don't want the large 50lb or heavier sealed containers. I'm specifically looking for the 5 or 10lb"ish" sizes if they still exist in today's welding market. I saw a guy on eBay selling around 20lb "batches" or so, but its "AW'S" brand IIRC. I prefer Lincoln, Hobart, Forney or ESAB. I've never heard of AWS and I'm assuming the guy is just opening up a large container and selling them that way. Any ideas where to order? Google didn't help that much. I saw "foxweldingsupply," but one can't order off of their website. I'm just wondering if anyone has a source. If it doesn't exist, then ill stick with 7018's and multiple passes. However, running one pass with a high depositon rate electrode would work sooo much better for the situation im in. Also, my big Lincoln mig is outa the question, due to portability reasons. Reply:Have you look for 7028 ?
Reply:Here recently I was looking for small quantities of 7024 myself. All I could find was 50-pound cans. I haven't run any 7024 since the mid 1970's, seems as wire feeders just about did that rod in. Even back then I can't ever remember 7024 coming in anything smaller than 50-pounds.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:No problem - I'm a fan of 7014 and 7024, they often get overlooked IMO. Last time I used 7024 was welding a bunch of 2" solid round to plates.Dave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday. |
