Seems my Miller 212 was not feeding right and it appears the wire drive wheels are doing all of the work and the wire spool isn't turning. Is this an easy fix? Is there a belt or something that drives this? Any advice, I have yet to take the panel off.......It aint what you dont know that gets you into trouble. Its what you know for sure that just aint so. Reply:Remove the gun from the drive and see if it will feed. if it feeds, see if you can stop the wire by pinching it.Flip up the pressure roller and see if the wire is centered to the groove on the drive roll.See owner's manual on how to adjust. If it feeds and you can't stop it, you have a liner problem in the gun or a bad tip. Safety tip, The wire may be hot so keep the work clamp away or covered.

Reply:None of the Miller feeders or migs I've ever worked with have had the spool spindle powered. The spindle stays stationary and the wire simply gets pulled off the roll by the drive rollers..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Originally Posted by BeendareI changed the tip and its a fairly new liner- maybe one roll of wire through it. The wire is in the drive roller groove.I am under the impression the spindle that holds the roll of wire rotates with the drive rollers- correct? Because it doesnt turn now, a lot of resistance. Seems like it has something to do with the added resistance and its making the wire slip when drive roller is feeding
Reply:if its under warranty still I would have it checked just to be sure the part they put on mine was pretty high that I rememberMILLERMATIC 212 AUTOSETMILLER BOBCAT 250MILLER DIALARC HFMILLER 15A SPOOLGUNMILLER S32P WIRE FEEDERTHERMAL ARC 186 AC/DCPAKMASTER 100XL PLUS

Check it out for problems. It should have just enough tension to brake the wire when you stop welding. It is entirely independent of the wire drive.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=235031 |
