So for my senior project our class had to learn something new, i already had a harbor freight 90 amp flux piece of garbage so i decided to learn how to weld. Decided to build a table, in my opinion it came out pretty cool for someone with basically no metal fabrication experience. Saving up for a thermal arc 211i, tell me what ya think. Reply:I think it came out great for your first project. Next time cope all the corners.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:That came together pretty nicely. You can plug those open ends by cutting little squares and welding them in. Use a magnet to hold them in place (flush) while tackingNext time cope all the corners.
Reply:Yes that's what i meant. haha. It's been a long day!Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Thanks, when you mean cope, or miter, do you mean just cut 45's? i was planning on doing this but the chop saw i used did not cut very accurate, also i thought about cutting little squares out but was not sure what tool i could use to cut perfect squares, all i have are a few basic power tools nothing fancy.
Reply:But thanks for all the positive comments much appreciated

Just make sure to use some form of oil when cutting. The table came out great!Last edited by Adam; 06-19-2013 at 06:35 PM.Reason: Forgot to add the quote. There ya go
Reply:I think it came out really good. I was going to only echo what others have said about closing up the holes on the end for a finished look.Good selection for a senior project. Reply:Did one similar, was going to put glass on top. Ended up cutting a piece of Oak Plywood and set it on top like a piece of glass. For the ends yes cut them at 45degrees.Or cut a square. It does not need to be a perfect fit. Your weld will fill in gaps.Having said that however you do want it to be as tight a fit as possible.
Reply:Nice project.
Reply:thanks erebody, i showed it to my architecture teacher and he asked me to build him a counter top or the frame for a counter top, making 500 from it so im happy.

Reply:Very nice work. Personally A improvment i would do is go and get some felt pads or something for the bottom of the legs. I could easily see it scratching the floor.PROUD AMERICAN
